    Itinerary

    DAY 1:

You will be picked up from your accommodation in Melbourne in an Echidna Walkabout vehicle and driven to a national park in the Western Plains.

Accompanied by a wildlife guide and koala researcher, stroll through the park and spot wild koalas, cockatoos and kookaburras. The guide explain the behaviour, life and habitats of the koalas that you will see. You will also enjoy close encounters with a wild mob of timid kangaroos on the plains as well as in open bushland. The guide will also point out parrots, fairy-wrens, emus, honeyeaters, wallabies and reptiles.

During the course of your wildlife adventure, you will be provided with a substantial picnic lunch. After an exciting day of wildlife spotting, you will be transported to a 4.5 star accommodation in the tiny outback town of Little River. You will enjoy a dinner at a local pub.

    DAY 2:

After breakfast, embark on a fascinating coastal drive along the Great Ocean Road, revelling in the stunning coastal landscape, seaside villages and rainforests that make this road so impressive.

Take a walk through the lush green Otway Rainforest and see the tallest eucalyptus trees in the world. Your guide will reveal the history and the formation of these forest regions. Next, you will travel through the Port Campbell National Park, looking out for echidnas, wallabies, lizards and colourful birds. Proceed to take in the beauty of the famous Twelve Apostles and the Loch Ard Gorge. You will also visit Shipwreck Coast where your guide will explain the story of the most famous and tragic 19th-century Australian shipwreck.

At the end of the day, you will spend the night at a 4.5 star accommodation near Loch Ard Gorge.

    DAY 3:

On your final day, you will hit the Great Ocean Road and head towards the vast grasslands of the Western Plains.

Visit the spot where over 7000 volcanoes erupted over the past 2 million years. The aftermath of the extinct volcanoes resulted in a fertile savannah. This area is now a major wool-growing area in Australia. You will drive to the top of an extinct volcano that overlooks the hundreds of volcanic lakes scattered across the plains. Next, you will drive past Lake Corangamite, the largest permanent lake in Australia.

At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back to your hotel in Melbourne.
