Visit the Moonlit Sanctuary on the Mornington Peninsula. Watch for koalas, kangaroos and wallabies in the sanctuary. The sanctuary also showcases the lesser-known but equally adorable endangered creatures including the southern bettong, eastern quolls and rare squirrel gliders.
Enjoy an exclusive tasting of locally produced wines and other gourmet produce at the boutique Phillip Island Winery.
The day ends with an amazing wildlife experience; the famous Penguin Parade. Watch the world’s smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing out at sea. You’ll be truly enchanted as the stars of the show emerge from the surf and pass right before your eyes on their journey back to their homes. You have the option to upgrade to more personalised experiences - Penguin Plus and Great Ranger Tour, that offers priority seating and guided narration.
You will be picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned minibus for your Phillip Island Tour. An English-speaking guide will accompany you on this tour.
Departing Melbourne at around midday, this small group day tour encapsulates the very best of the region’s wildlife.
The first destination of your Phillip Island Tour will be the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park, just 50 minutes from Melbourne.
This award-winning park is home to more than 200 animals and makes up some 30 species. Residents include kangaroos and koalas as well as owls, dingos, various reptiles, wallabies and possums. Rare and endangered animals that have bred at the park include southern bettongs, eastern quolls, Julia Creek dunnarts and squirrel gliders.
You will be able to hand feed kangaroos and wallabies, enjoy a photo opportunity with a koala and learn about the conservation of these loveable animals.
We’ll journey next to the delightful Phillip Island Winery where we’ll enjoy a gourmet afternoon tea featuring not only a range of locally produced wines, but also a selection of Gippsland’s finest cheeses and other gourmet produce. The tasting is accompanied by an informative presentation about each of the foodstuffs sampled, ensuring an experience that is educational as well as truly mouth-watering.
A visit to Point Grant and The Nobbies gives us an opportunity to enjoy views over Westernport Bay and Bass Strait, including Seal Rocks, home to Australia’s largest population of fur seals.
And then it’s onwards to the main event, where just after dark every night the world’s smallest penguins waddle ashore after spending the day fishing out at sea. You’ll be truly enchanted as the stars of the show emerge from the surf and pass right before your eyes on their journey back to their homes. Your guide will ensure you are able to get the very best vantage point to enjoy the Penguin Parade.
For an exclusive viewing experience, you may upgrade to more personalised experiences - Penguin Plus or the Guided Ranger Tour. With Penguins Plus, enjoy access to an exclusive viewing platform. With numbers limited to 300, you’ll enjoy special ranger interpretation in a more natural setting.
With Guided Ranger Tour, be a part of a group of not more than 10 guests accompanied by a ranger guide for a private eco-tourism experience including secluded priority seating.
After the parade we allow plenty of time to explore the Visitor Centre before beginning our own journey back to Melbourne.
With drop off right back to your inner city accommodation, you’ll remember this day as a true highlight of your Australian holiday.
