You’ll meet your guide and group at the corner of Degraves Street and Flinders street.
If there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that Melbourne locals love their coffee. Thankfully, they’ve got plenty of places in which to stoke their caffeine habit (read: addiction) - the city has more cafes than you can shake your fist at. Finding the absolute best of the best coffee joints here is an assignment for travellers with plenty of time on their hands. For everyone else, there’s this tour: essentially a cafe crawl through the city’s graffiti-laden laneways and glamourous arcades led by a Melbourne local. They’ll tell you everything you need to know about cafes and coffee here in Melbourne: where to get the best blends, the history of coffee in the city (Italian Aussies deserve our deepest thanks) and some of the science behind the production too. Your guide will aim to introduce you to a few different flavours and styles of coffee, as well as serve up some of the best Flat Whites in the business. If you love your beans and want to get to know the city better, this one’s a really nice way to kick-start your time in Melbourne.
About your guide
Believe us when we say that the team at Walk Melbourne Tours know all the best places. From cafes to food joints and rambles through often overlooked laneways, their tours focus on drawing attention to different aspects of the city, stuff that you wouldn’t find if left to your own devices.
Here’s the plan…
Meet your guide and group at the beginning of Melbourne’s laneways, near Flinders Street Station. Over the next three hours you’ll visit four of Melbourne’s coolest inner-city cafes: some are small hole-in-the-wall type places, others are sleek and stylish. What all these cafes have in common is their impeccable flair for serving glorious coffee.
Your cafe crawl will take you through Melbourne’s famous laneways and arcades. Along the way, your guide will fill you in on the various facets of city life, and the points of interest people should look out for. Your tour guide knows everything there is to know about coffee, and can tailor the info on the tour to suit your particular bean-related interests. If you want to get into the science of production and beans and blends and milk-to-coffee ratios and all that fun stuff, you absolutely can. Or if cafe culture in Melbourne and the history of coffee here is your thing, the focus can swing that way too.
After three hours of exploring you’ll say goodbye to your guide, ready - and certainly buzzed - for the afternoon ahead. Enjoy y’all.
The confirmation voucher includes the Walk Melbourne Tours team’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.
This tour covers quite a lot of ground, so be sure to wear some comfortable walking shoes.
Sorry team, but we will need you to print a paper version of your booking voucher to pass along to the Walk Melbourne Tours guide on arrival (we're working on changing this). At this time no refund can be given for customers who rock up without a printed copy of their voucher – so don’t forget!
