The first stop on the tour is the UNESCO World Heritage site - Colosseum. Once inside, your guide will narrate the history of Colosseum and stories of valour, bravery and public life. The Colosseum is a living proof of the stunning architecture and strong masonry of the ancient world, and has served as a model for stadiums around the world.

Next, pass by the Arch of Constantine and see the excavated ruins of the Roman Forum. Historically the Forum was once of the cultural hub of Rome and the venue for festivals and triumphal processions when triumphant Roman armies returned from battles. From the Roman Forum, climb up to the Palatine Hill, the most popular of the seven hills of Rome. Romulus and Remus were said to have been found on the Palatine by the she-wolf who nursed and raised them.

After visiting the Palatine Hill, dig into a typical Italian lunch with pizza before heading for out to visit two of the most important basilicas in Rome. Explore the Basilica of St Mary Maggiore, which houses an impressive collection of historic and religious artefacts, and where you can admire 5th century mosaics and the remarkable Crypt of the Nativity. Admire 5th century mosaics and the remarkable Crypt of the Nativity. You will then be heading to the exquisite Explore the Basilica of Saint John in Lateran, home to Holy Steps or Scala Sancta, one of the city’s most important pilgrimage sites. From there, your guide will take you to the Basilica of St Mary Maggiore, which houses an impressive collection of historic and religious artefacts.

Continue along the historic Appian Way with your guide, arriving at the last stop of the tour, the Roman underground Catacombs.
