This Pompeii tour from Rome is crafted specially for those who are short on time and want to enjoy a comprehensive tour of Pompeii. Take a special air-conditioned, high-speed train from Rome and Naples and travel to Pompeii in a private coach accompanied by an expert, English speaking guide.
Considered one of the most fascinating archeological sites in the world, the city of Pompeii was buried under the volcanic ash and pumice for centuries after the fierce Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.
The half day guided Pompeii tour will take you to the excavation site and show you the places where Pompeian villagers and aristocrats once went about their daily activities. You will also get the opportunity to see the recently-opened Domus, the lavish homes of Pompeii’s most influential people.
To begin your Pompeii tour from Rome, make your way to Piazza dei Cinquecento, facing the main entrance of Termini train station, where you will meet our local representative. He/she will provide you the train tickets and look after the seating arrangements to ensure you have a comfortable journey to Naples.
The special, air-conditioned high-speed train will take an hour to reach Naples and will pass by spectacular scenery of the countryside. Upon your arrival at Naples, your English speaking guide will welcome you at the station and help you board a private coach which will take you to the world-famous ruins of Pompeii.
Walk past the long queues with your skip-the-line ticket to Pompeii and embark upon a 2-hour guided tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the excavation site which was buried under volcanic debris for over 1600 years. Walk the cobbled streets where the people of Pompeii went about their daily lives.
You will also visit the newly opened Domus, the residences of the ancient elite. Marvel at the beautiful frescoes of animals, powerful gods and lush landscapes decorated on the walls of these structures.
Pompeii was a well-developed Roman city which had a huge amphitheatre that held gladiatorial fights, temples of worship, luxurious Roman villas decorated with brightly painted frescoes and marvelous mosaics and highly mechanised waterway systems. Your guide will bring the relics back to life through his commentary and share interesting local stories about the city.
After exploring the main parts of Pompeii, your guide will leave you for a short coffee break or you can spend some time buying souvenirs from the local shops.
After the break, you will get back to your coach and depart for Naples, from where you will take your train back to Rome.
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour to confirm departure details.
