A great trip from Rome, visit the ruined city of Pompeii and revel in the beauty of Amalfi Coast with this guided tour.
Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was buried under the volcanic ash and pumice for centuries after the fierce Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. Led by an official Pompeii guide, you will see the major Pompeii attractions. The guide will be a trained archaeologist who will narrate fascinating stories about the lives that the people of Pompeii used to lead.
Next, head to the scenic Amalfi Coast and visit Positano, a spectacularly beautiful coastal town that has inspired such legendary writers as Shelley, Goethe and Steinbeck. Discover the picturesque charms of Amalfi town as the guide tells you about the lifestyle of its residents.
Your tour will begin from designated meeting point where you will meet your tour co-cordinator to check in. Board the bus and head to the city of Pompeii, which was buried under volcanic debris for over 1600 years.
You will meet your expert guide in Pompeii who will walk you through the shops, temples, public baths and houses that composed the thriving city. The guide will recount the fascinating stories of ancient life and how it was decimated by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
Also, see the daunting plastic death casts of people who were caught in the eruption.
After exploring the main parts of Pompeii, your tour guide will take you on a panoramic drive down the Amalfi Coast.
Your guide will tell you stories about life in this beautiful region of Italy till you reach the next stop, Positano. Take a stroll around the narrow alleys of this charming town situated along the scenic Amalfi coast. See the beautiful beaches, the ancient fishing port and the artisan shops.
Your guide will share some tips on where to eat lunch and shop, after which you will have free time to do as you please. Linger over a seafood feast at a beachside restaurant or grab a panino to go and explore the winding streets and artisan stores.
After the end of the tour, you will head back to Rome by bus.
Voucher information: No need to print! If you are travelling with a smartphone or tablet you can present your voucher on your device for this activity.
Please note that the tour meeting time is 15 minutes prior to the start time.
No refunds or re-bookings can be provided for late arrivals or no shows after the tour has started.
Please note that lunch is not included in this service.
You will have free time to eat at Positano and your guide will be happy to recommend places to eat a full sit-down meal or to grab something quick while shopping.
During winters, we might replace Positano with Sorrento as more shops and restaurants are open there during this time.
The order of sites visited is subject to changes.
If you are traveling with a young child and need a car seat, please contact our Guest Experience department prior to your tour.
Luggage and/or strollers are not allowed on this tour as there is no extra storage space on the vehicle.
Should any part of this tour be closed, we may need to make modifications to the itinerary.
The town you visit will depend on the season and weather - Positano, Amalfi (town), or Sorrento.
During the low season (November - March) most businesses including restaurants in Positano close, making the town a rather dull visit. During this time, we visit the town of Amalfi or Sorrento where ample choices for lunch and shopping abound.
Highly recommend this trip!
