Who said Rome is all about history and culture? This Full Day Tour to Ponza Island, with an option to include snorkelling as well, is perfect for beach bums, those looking to do something different in the city apart from exploring the historical monuments and just about anyone looking to have a ball of a time.
A tiny Mediterranean pearl, Ponza is as pretty as a postcard and makes for a great getaway from the bustle of cities. Crystal clear turquoise waters, pristine beaches and gorgeous views await you on this little vacay haven that is also a paradise for marine life enthusiasts and divers. We will head to the port in Anzio from where we board a fast ferry taking us to Ponza Island, from where we will embark on an excursion boat captained by a local Ponzan who will pick out the best itinerary depending on the tides and wind to make sure we visit the best spots.
The excursion, which lasts for roughly 5 hours, will take you sailing around Ponza’s exquisite natural beauty, exploring a bunch of fascinating hidden coves, stunning rock formations and magnificent grottoes. In fact, we will keep a lookout so you might even have a chance in swim inside some of for an out-of-the-world experience. We’ll fill you in with all the intriguing history and geology of the region, courtesy our local captain. Depending on the tides, our journey could include famous attractions like the Arco Naturale (Natural Arch), Lucia Rosa's cove & beach, the Guard's Lighthouse which is one of the oldest and most important in Italy and Moon Rock Beach with the spectacular "Chiaia di Luna", which happens to be a wildlife refuge as well. Our entire journey includes 4-5 stops, giving you all the time to swim and/or snorkel around, soaking up the magic of the Tyrrhenian Sea as well as discovering the amazing marine life in the region.
While on board, you will get to relish a tru-blue Italian meal of pasta and wine, and some classic espresso too. Our tour ends late in the afternoon and we will be pack to the port on Ponza, where you enjoy some time checking out the plethora of cute little cafes and even indulge in a quintessential Italian gelato or sit back and relax with a flute of prosecco, ending your tour with on refreshing note and giving you a glimpse into the laidback Italian life!
