Overview

Drive along Iceland’s South Shore and visit the extraordinary Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon.

Your drive will take you past some charming villages and the Skaftafell National Park and you will visit the Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. Just before you reach the lagoon, you will pass Iceland’s biggest volcano, which happens to be the highest peak in Iceland.

After you arrive at the glacial lagoon, you will take a boat tour(optional). The boats, however, are not ordinary boats, as they are capable of driving short distances on land as well as sailing on the water.

This glacial lagoon started to form in the early 1920s and is getting bigger every year. You will see many blocks of ice that have broken off of Europe’s biggest glacier, Vatnajökull, as they sail slowly towards the ocean that is only a kilometre away from the lagoon.
