Overview

The Northern Lights, also known as the Aurora Borealis, is a spectacular natural phenomenon that originates from the sun. When the solar particles collide with the atmospheric gases of the earth, they create a wonderful light effect, known as the Aurora Borealis.

The stage will be set with an educational Northern Lights Show before you board your boat. Onboard there are excellent viewing platforms where you can take in the amazing light display. You can also rest in the heated lounge if you so choose or borrow warm overalls onboard. Light refreshments are available onboard for purchase, and your knowledgeable guide will ensure that your evening runs well.

Sail off of Reykjavik's Old Harbour to view the Aurora Borealis in all its glory. When electrically charged particles from the sun reach the Earth's atmosphere, the phenomena occurs. The displays can come in a variety of colours and shapes — the most common colours are pale green and pink, but hues of red, yellow, green, blue, and violet have also been observed.

The knowledgeable aurora guides will provide you with information on the auroras and address any questions you may have. On the trip, they even snap photographs, which you may request via email when you return home!
