The Aurora Borealis is a brilliant feature of the Arctic skies at night. Although seeing it involves journeying away from the bright lights of civilization, on this family-friendly Jeep tour you’ll have the best seating to one of nature’s most captivating shows not far from Reykjavik.
The custom-built 4x4 vehicle allows you to avoid the busy spots large enough for tour buses and get away from the crowds for pristine views of the Northern Lights. As you pass through Iceland’s stunning landmarks and pause to take pictures, your expert guide will teach you about the lights and the stories surrounding them. You’ll be sure to return the city at the end of the evening with irreplaceable memories of Iceland illuminated by swirling colours and hundreds of stars.
What's the plan:
Your tour begins when your expert tour guide arrives in a custom 4x4 Jeep to pick you up from your hotel in Reykjavik. You will head out of the bright city lights in Reykjavik and into the surrounding landscape to start your hunt for the elusive Northern Lights.
Their spectacular winter show is one of Iceland’s top attractions, and their memorable dancing rays are worth the trip! As your guide takes you through some of the many stunning sites in the region, you’ll hear about the legends and science behind the lights themselves.
At the end of the evening you’ll be dropped off back at your hotel in Reykjavik.

Icelandic winter nights can be very cold, we recommend dressing in warm layers and sturdy shoes.
Northern Lights is a natural phenomenon and sightings are not guaranteed! In the event of an unsuccessful northern lights hunt, there will be no refund. However, you may join on subsequent tours until you have a successful night of seeing the northern lights.
The Northern Lights Explorer Tour is heavily dependent on weather conditions. Our local partner reserves the right to cancel departures up until 6.15pm on the day of the tour. If the tour goes ahead and no Northern Lights are seen, guests are offered the chance to join another evening's departure free of charge.
Indicated return times can vary due to road & weather conditions.
