Overview

Visit Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a place of fascinating geology and exceptional natural beauty. The Mid-Atlantic Ridge – the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates – is clearly visible here. Þingvellir is also of great historic interest because it was the site where the Icelandic parliament, Alþingi, was founded in the year 930 AD.

See the incredible spouting hot springs of Geysir and Strokkur. Geysir – the biggest geysers of Haukadalur are Strokkur and Geysir itself. Strokkur erupts every 5 to 10 minutes, throwing a column of water into the air to a height of 20 to 30 meters and is a truly wondrous sight.

Continue to the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss ('Golden Waterfall'). One of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland, Gulfoss is one of the highlights of the Golden circle tour and an absolute must-see!

Enjoy a visit to the big volcanic crater called Kerid Crater, that makes for a great photo op due to its unique landscape. The crater is 270 m wide and more than 55 m deep. There is a lake in the bottom of the crater which gives it a little bit of magic. The lake is almost 14 m deep. This eye-popping Icelandic crater lake is surrounded by red volcanic rock and is a truly unique Icelandic landscape that you must experience.

The day ends with a visit to the Blue Lagoon, an Iceland tour classic. Enjoy the perfect tranquility at the Blue Lagoon, a world-renowned geothermal spa. Set in a landscape of black basalt, the Blue Lagoon has warm milky-turquoise waters rich in healing minerals. Sooth your senses and feel rejuvenated with a dip in nature’s own aqua spa.
