What's the plan:
At the start of your Iceland Game of Thrones Tour you will be picked up from your hotel in Reykjavik.
Set off on a tour of the locations used by the HBO hit “Game of Thrones”. Take a walk in the footsteps of some of your favourite characters. This tour has been prepared with the help of an Icelandic actor who actually died violently in the show at the hands of the Wildlings. Tour also stops by Þórufoss waterfall (where in the series Drogon attacks a herd of goats) and at Laxnes horse farm to meet some of the horses used during the filming.
Enjoy a 40 minute drive to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was the backdrop for the White Walkers scenes. See the gorge of Thingvellir, where the European and American tectonic plates are slowly drifting apart, causing a massive crack in the earth's surface.
See the Bloody Gate, which is the narrow passageway to the Eyrie taken by Lord Baelish (Little Finger) and Sansa Stark and later by the Hound and Arya. Various other scenes were filmed in the area such as the Wildlings roaming South of the Wall, the Thenns and Wildlings meeting in the canyon where Styr is introduced and Arya running off to find a ship to Braavos after leaving the Hound.
You will be immersed in this imaginative and beautiful atmosphere at Þingveillir, which in turn, will help you to understand the significance of the area to the plot of the show. You will also see Þjórsárdalur and the “Settlement Era Viking Lodge”, which is the location of the greatest massacre and most elaborate scene of the series so far.
This amazing tour will allow you to use your imagination to picture yourself in the actual show and what it must be like in real life. It also provides an excellent way to see and capture the beauty of Iceland in a fun and creative way.
As a bonus, you also get to see locations used in another film called “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped at your hotel. Howver, hotel drop off may depend on the route and traffic restrictions
