  • Overview & Itinerary

Embark on an irreverent and unconventional storytelling tour and visit the iconic Statue of Liberty on this twisted Statue of Liberty tour! Get personal with Lady Liberty, enjoy special access to the Statue Pedestal, not open to the general public and hear interesting stories and myths from your fun local guide.

Ditch boring history book lessons and be regaled instead with riveting and sometimes outlandish stories about an octopus attack, JFK’s assassination and more! Learn about how NYC’s most unwanted gift became an enduring symbol of the American Dream.

With return ferry tickets to Ellis Island included in the package, make a trip to Ellis Island, explore its lovely museum and enjoy the riveting multimedia displays on a self-guided visit.

    Lady Liberty Tour:

Meet your guide in Battery Park at the pre-decided meeting point. You will be boarding a ferry to Liberty Island with a small group. Your witty and expert guide will regale you with some bizarre stories about Lower Manhattan during the ferry ride.

Hear irreverent stories, rumors and legends that you haven’t heard anywhere else. Here the story of the sinking of the ferry and the death of 400 people. Rumors have it that the markings of what looked like huge suction cups were discovered on the side of the boat, pointing to an unlikely culprit. See the photographic evidence provided by your guide and decide if it’s a myth or a fact.

At the Liberty Island, climb to the Statue pedestal, via a stairway (or elevator) inside the structure. Literally, get beneath the skirts of Lady Liberty and hear stories about the creation of the statue. Learn a version very different from the ones in history books - know about how the creator wasn’t always fond of Americans and how many Americans cared even less for his statue and weren’t interested in paying for the pedestal that you’re standing on (which eventually cost more than the statue itself).

Know about how Lady Liberty’s torch started out as little more than a flicker of light; and how many seagulls lost their lives because of it. You’ll also learn how the statue went from being little known to becoming an icon of the American people, used to advertise everything from immigration and patriotism, to laxatives and cocaine. Step outside for views from the pedestal that reach over the harbour and encompass much of Lower Manhattan, making it a perfect place for great selfies!

    Ellis Island Trip:

With the end of the guided tour, you are now free to take the ferry to Ellis Island (included in the ticket) to explore the lovely museum by yourself and know more about the history of this famous harbor. Enjoy the videos, audio and huge photographic exhibits at the museum and return to Liberty Island by ferry.
