Sample a classic cultural experience on this New York Pub Crawl. The tour starts from the Old Town Bar, 45 East 18th Street between Broadway and Park Avenue South, where your (English-speaking) guide will be waiting outside.
With your guide you will visit three different pubs during the evening and enjoy one complimentary drink at each. You can easily walk from one bar to the other and the distance covered on the tour is about 1 mile (1.6km).
The bars are selected from New York City's oldest drinking establishments and at each venue your guide will tell stories of the artists, politicians, celebrities and sports teams who frequented the place in the past. Typically the pubs visited are the Old Town Bar, Pete’s Tavern and McSorely’s Old Ale House.
Expect to enjoy excellent ales, plenty of atmosphere, old-style booths, frosted glass, beveled mirrors and mahogany bars. In some venues, you may think you've stepped back in time to the early gunslinging days of New York.
There are so many good stories to tell. For example, the writer O. Henry is said to have written some of his best works in one of the bars visited on this tour.
