  • Day 1: Avebury, Lacock Village, City of Bath and Cirencester

The first day of the tour is as historic as it can get. Our journey begins at the neolithic henge monument of Avebury, the three fascinating stone circles making up the largest megalithic one in the world is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as a Scheduled Ancient Monument in the United Kingdom. We will continue on to visit the intriguing Cherhill White Horse, dating back to the late 18th century - a hill figure believed to have been carved on the Cherhill down by the “mad doctor” Dr Christopher Alsop.

The second excursion of our day will dive into the rickety yet picturesque roads of Lacock Village, used as a backdrop for filming popular movies and television series including Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. A beautifully preserved medieval village, its contemporary claim to fame is surely the stunning Abbey which has used to portray our beloved Hogwarts!

Taking a short break from the rural grandeur of England, we will explore the historic Roman Spa city of Bath, home to a sensational blend of Georgian and Romanesque architecture styles. We will explore the legendary Roman Baths, a former public bathing complex comprising the Sacred Spring, the Roman Bath House, the Roman Temple and the new Museum. Prepared to be mesmerised by its towering magnificence before we move on to the Bath Abbey, which is equally marvellous and a remarkable specimen of the Perpendicular Gothic style.

Our last stop for the day is an introduction to the charms of the Cotswolds as we head to Cirencester, a charming market town in east Gloucestershire whose economy was founded in the wool trade during medieval times.

  • Day 2: Oxford and the Cotswolds Villages of Bibury, Brampton and Stow-on-the-Wold

Our second day begins with the charming village of Bibury, a quintessential old English hamlet with rows of quaint 16th century cottages lining a tranquil river dotted with trouts and ducks paddling around. Believe us, Bibury literally looks like it has jumped right out of a postcard! Stow-on-the-Wold, a market town in Gloucestershire is up next. Sitting atop the 800 ft Stow Hill, the town is brimming with a brilliant mix of Norman and Roman histories as well as some fine tea rooms and exquisite antique shops.

We will then visit Brampton, a dreamy 7th century town that is a favourite with Downton Abbey fans. From the Old Parish Church to parts of the Hadrian Wall to the Lanercost Priory, the town makes for a surreal experience, almost making one feel like they have stopped and moved back in time to the High Middle Ages. Our final pitstop and highlight for the day is the iconic Oxford, the royalty of global academic standards. The city is distinguished for the illustrious University of Oxford - the oldest university of the English speaking world, known for almost a millennium of academic excellence, incredible historical and political influence as well as the haunt of Britain’s best minds besides being home to the world’s oldest university museum and the largest university press. And if you are a Harry Potter fan, we know that you’ll probably make a beeline for the Great Hall of Christ Church College which has been featured as the enormous dining hall of Hogwarts.
