    Make your way to the front of the Central Post Office on the north side of Kyoto station. "Chu-o yu-bin-kyo-ku" (Central Post Office) is less than a minute walk from the station. Please meet in front of the door with the vending machine and traditional red mail box.

Get a taste of the lives of the locals with a walk through a residential neighbourhood, visit the serene Fushimi Inari Shrine, an intense spiritual experience. Make your way through the corridors of red gates, made famous in the film Memoirs of Geisha and admire the shrines and fox statues.

Visit Gion, famously known as Kyoto’s Geisha district. Soak up the ambience of the historic quarter, take in the sights, sounds and smells and walk past the traditional teahouses and restaurants, some of which are exclusively dedicated to Geisha entertainment.

Exploring Kyoto after sunset by walking through the old town’s lantern-lit wooden streets, is a magical experience not to be missed!

Traverse the tranquil wooden backstreets through to Yasaka Shrine. Enjoy Yasaka with its bright lights and lively crowds, along with street food stalls selling Japan’s favourite evening appetizers — everything from frozen bananas to skewered squid.

Enjoy at Pontocho, a centuries-old entertainment district now lined with bars and restaurants. Head to Teramachi, a traditional Japanese-style arcade strip which has a prolific variety of shops and restaurants, including traditional Japanese bookstores.

Relax at a tachinomiya, at the Nishi food market, which means ‘stand and drink shop’, so you can grab a drink next to the locals, making a casual stop for a beer or sake and a small snack.

If you have your voucher, your booking is confirmed. You will be in small group size with maximum up to 12 people. Some of the places we will visit in Nara-machi will vary on each tour as they have irregular opening and closing days. In case of unexpected closure of the Todaiji temple, we will either reschedule or cancel the tour. If we have to cancel for such a reason, you will be refunded in full. As we will be visiting religious temples and shrines, modest dress is required.

Travellers under 20 years of age are not permitted to join this tour.
