A rare opportunity to meet a Maiko awaits you as you travel in Japan Rail from Kyoto. Also explore famous historic site, Fushimi Inari Shrine Temple as well as enjoy the tranquil settings of Arashiyama.
Fushimi Inari shrine
Visit the Fushimi Inari shrine, famous for its network of vermillion tori gates behinds its main buildings. Observe the many fox statues in the shrine premises as the animals are thought to be the messengers of Inari, the Shinto God of rice.
Meet Maiko at Gion
Head to Kyoto’s most famous geisha district, Gion and meet a Maiko with the signature white make-up and elaborate kimonos. Maikos are Geisha apprentices who are trained in dance and playing instruments. The Maiko will entertain you with song and dance and would serve you green tea as part of a tea ceremony. Do not forget to take a photograph with the Maiko and take back home as a memory.
After meeting the Maiko, you will be served an All-You-Can-Eat Chanko nabe lunch eaten by sumo wrestlers in large quantities. The soup is made with fish or chicken broth and ingredients such as meat balls, vegetables, tofu, mochi and udon are simmered inside the soup.
Arashiyama
A fulfilling lunch calls for a relaxed train ride to Arashiyama, one of the most popular tourist districts in Kyoto. Filled with shrines and temples, explore the town at your leisure as you enjoy its natural beauty. Arashiyama is most beautiful around April and late November when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. During summer seasons, observe the tradition fishing methods of the local folks.

Tour comes to an end at the Arashiyama. You have to make your own way thereafter.

Transfer from JR Saga Arashiyama Station to JR Kyoto Station will approximately take 15 minutes one way (not included in the tour) at 240 yen.
