This bike tour lets you relive the tense, tragic days of the Cold War when the Iron Curtain fell on Berlin and a city was walled off.

With cushy seats, thick tyres and adjustable handlebars, your bike lets you navigate the streets of Berlin with ease and comfort. An expert guide will take you back to the strained, shadowy days on both sides of the Wall during the Cold War.

Bike from West to East along the wide boulevard of the Karl-Marx-Allee, which typifies the socialist classicism of Soviet design.

Explore the East Side Gallery, famous for its politically-charged graffiti that returns you to the agonies and frustrations of a nation divided. Take plenty of time to soak it in and pull out your camera to capture the most arresting images.

Retrace more than 5km of where the Wall once stood and learn about the differences and misunderstandings that still fester between former East and West Berlin. Listen intently to anecdotal tales of espionage and harrowing escape, many on the exact site where they actually took place. Bike by the last of the deathstrip watchtowers to comprehend the unimaginable risk taken by those that tried to cross over.

Highlights of the tour:

Berlin Wall Memorial

Former Death Strip

No-man's-land watchtower

Site of tunnels and escapes

Stasi Records Agency

Günter Litfin Memorial

Invaliden Cemetery

New government quarter

Subway ghost station

Chapel of Reconciliation

Mauer Park

Even your lunch stop illustrates that fault lines that once sprawled between East and West, as you break for a bite at a charming café in the remains of an old train station split from its tracks by the Wall.
