Since launching in San Francisco in 2008, the travel startup has gone from big to bigger, with more than four million listings on the site worldwide. While there’s plenty of stand-out stays to choose from, the most liked Airbnb listings on Instagram are in a league of their own. Here are the crowd favourites from last year…
Tye Haus – A-Frame Cabin, Skykomish, Washington, US
Taken during a winter vacation, this snap of the snug A-framed Tye Haus in Skykomish, Washington was one of the most popular uploads on Airbnb’s Instagram account last year. Close to the Stevens Pass Ski Resort in the central Cascades, this home is the perfect place to kick your feet up after a long day on the slopes.
The Little Owl Cabin at Mt. Rainier, Packwood, Washington, USA
Talk about cabin fever – here’s another A-framed abode was taking Instagrammers fancy last year. The shot was taken by the travelling couple behind @livewanderfly who booked the Airbnb – located in the heart of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest – for a romantic getaway.
Honeymoon House on Superior Pebble Beach, Lutsen, Minnesota, US
Three times the charm. This final cabin on the list was a favourite on Instagram last year, and it’s easy to see why. You’ll have to BYO pup though.
Best Place in the Heart of Downtown Tulum, Mexico
Snapped by Casey and Savannah (the team behind @heywanderer) this Mexican stay is giving us serious garden envy. The picture raked in more than 44k likes on Airbnb’s account, with many (ourselves included) falling head over heels for the Tulum apartment.
Secluded Intown Treehouse: Atlanta, Georgia, US
For those who aren’t quite campers but still love the idea of sleeping in the open air, this secluded Atlanta treehouse is the answer to your prayers. More than 42k people liked this picture of the magical treehouse – perfect for little and big kids alike.
Charming & Cozy Paris Apartment, France
Chic Parisian apartments have a tendency to make us weak at the knees, and this stylish abode is no exception. Guests at Lucie and Fred’s place enjoy stylish interiors, stunning views of the Sacré-Cœur and a certain je ne sais quoi that can’t be trumped.
‘Cliff House’- Stunning Waterfront Position, Mollymook, New South Wales, Australia
We’re big fans of water views, but the scenes at this Mollymook beach pad are something else. According to guest reviews, visitors may be lucky enough to see whales and dolphins splashing about in Australia’s deep blue.

Gabriel’s penthouse received a whole lot of love on Instagram last year when this beautiful snap by traveller Viktoria made the rounds. On the slopes of Table Mountain, the Cape Town penthouse enjoys some of the best views of the city and beyond, and is a favourite stay for visitors to the region.
