We’ll share the exact meeting point along with your booking voucher.
Same as the starting point.
Nestled in the shadow of the magnificent Mt. Etna, Taormina is as pretty as a postcard with the volcano looming into view at every nook and corner. This Food Tour in Taormina will not just delight your palate but your eyes and heart too, letting you discover the secret hotspots of the city’s delectable cuisine, accompanied by amusing anecdotes!
The city’s spectacular landscape is clearly reflected in its equally delicious specialties with a famous one resembling the fiery mountain: Arancini rice balls which are shaped like a volcanic cone with the delicious filling puffing out steam the moment you cut off the top. How about an equally edgy pairing? Taormina has it covered too with their incredible volcanic wines, flavour-packed and grown on Etna’s lava soil. Infact, we will take you to the only place in town where freshly prepared arancini are made - so delicious that even the New York Times wrote about them. Keep you pen, paper and all your senses ready as the boss Cristina herself shows you how to cook them to perfection.
Our gastronomic highlights also include a local treat in an idyllic spot at the Marchese della Real Casa Ayerbe d’Aragona which once housed the stables of the more than 200-year old aristocratic family. We cannot let you leave, either, without having relished the Sicilian national dish Pasta alla Norma, home-made with premium organic ingredients at a trattoria. Run by two sisters, it harvests all their ingredients directly from mama’s field and serve the food with a Nero d’Avola - quite an unforgettable affair, so buon appetito. As an insider’s tip, we will throw in an adorable encounter with the sweet side of chef Domenico’s life and a treat he copied meticulously from his grandma’s recipe book 40 years ago, although sometimes we do wish he had been able to retain the original name of this naughty indulgence. Our culinary trail comprises tons of other unmatched experiences, such as getting spoiled by cheese specialities from a long-established family business, enjoying a tasting of unique volcanic wines, learning about the largely unknown cedro fruit, and much, much more.
A true-blue Italian gastronomic experience, this is a food tour that regales you with more than just nutrition - it is an absolute magic for your soul!
