Combine a visit to three of the most beautiful towns on the Amalfi coast with a tour of the ruins of Pompeii on this small group tour from Rome.
Pompeii was buried under lava and ash from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and lay forgotten for hundreds of years. The well preserved ruins of the town now offer an insight into Roman history.
The Amalfi coast is one of the most picturesque coastlines in the world. Visit Positano, a spectacularly beautiful coastal town. Travel to the town of Amalfi, en route enjoying the fantastic views of rocky inlets, cliff edge villas and terraced gardens. Discover the scenic charms of Amalfi town.
You will be picked up from your hotel in Rome between 6:45am and 7:15am and travel in an air-conditioned vehicle accompanied by an English-speaking guide.
Your first stop of the day is the ancient city of Pompeii. Your guide will escort you around the well-preserved ruins that date back to 80 B.C. Visit the interiors of the homes of Pompeii's wealthier citizens and the ancient street café's where locals dined. Also see the amphitheater and learn about the Gladiators and the events staged in the arena.
After leaving Pompeii, the tour proceeds to the Amalfi Coast. The first town you will visit is Positano. Enjoy a stroll around the narrow alleys of this charming town situated along the scenic Amalfi coast. See the beautiful beaches, the ancient fishing port, the splendid church of Santa Maria Assunta, artisan shops and enjoy a taste of the "Dolce Vita".
In Amalfi town you will have some time to stroll through the labyrinth of narrow lanes and alleyways that climb the surrounding hills. The town features typical Mediterranean style architecture.
At the end of your tour you will be returned to Rome. You will be dropped at your hotel in the city at around 7:30pm.
