Lambhagi base in Mosfellsbær or your hotel in Reykjavik (as per the option chosen)
You’ll be riding on powerful all-weather 650cc ATV quads perfect for both the gravel and mountain paths on this two-hour tour. By off-roading rather than taking large busses or following popular hiking trails you’ll be able to escape the crowds and reach places harder or impossible to get to on your own. This tour is perfect for those who want a slightly longer time on the bikes and want to see another side of Iceland!
Your tour starts with an optional pick-up at your hotel in Reykjavik. From there, your expert guide will drive you to the base located in Mosfellsbær town located about 15 minutes from downtown Reykjavik. If you chose not to be picked up you will join the group at 1:30pm at the Lambhagi base.
At the base, you will be briefed on bike safety and how they work; you’ll be riding on powerful all-weather 650cc engine Super-ATVs perfect for the off-roading journey you’re about to undertake. You’ll also be provided riding gear to stay safe, warm, and dry during your ride. Once everyone is ready, you’ll hop on your bike and head out on the gravel road past the beautiful Lake Hafravatn towards Mt. Hafrafell. The mountain trail will take you up to the peak with stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside and the Reykjavik area. You’ll have the chance to stretch your legs and take pictures then your journey will continue back down this mountain and up another with even better views: Mt. Ulfarsfell.
On a good day from this second stop you can see Reykjavik, the bay area, and the Reykjanes Peninsula all the way out to Snæfellsjökull glacier hundreds of kilometers away. The total journey will take approximately two hours, though all the while you’ll be surrounded by Iceland’s signature landscape and impressive natural geography.
At the end of the trip you will either be taken back to Reykjavik, or if you arrived on your own you are free to do as you like.
