Just outside the Tempio Travel ticket office located next to the Circumvesuviuana train stop Villa dei Misteri. When exiting the Circumvesuviana train stop Villa dei Misteri (with your back to the station), go to the left. Just around the corner you will see a ticket office. We meet just outside.
Near the entrance to Pompeii
Visit Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was buried under the volcanic ash and pumice for centuries after the fierce Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.
This guided walking tour of Pompeii gives you skip-the-line access to the site and an official Pompeii guide takes you to the major Pompeii attractions. The guide will be a trained archaeologist who will narrate fascinating stories about the lives that the people of Pompeii used to lead.
View the death casts of people caught in the eruption and stroll along the top of the city walls to enjoy panoramic views of Naples and Capri.
You will meet your guide in front of the Tempio Travel ticket office outside Pompeii. Walk past the long queues and enter the site with your skip-the-line ticket.
Visit the excavation site which was buried under volcanic debris for over 1600 years. Pompeii was a well-developed Roman city which had a huge amphitheatre that held gladiatorial fights, temples of worship, luxurious Roman villas decorated with brightly painted frescoes and marvelous mosaics and highly mechanised waterway systems.
The guide will walk you through the shops, temples, public baths and houses that composed the thriving city, s/he will recount the fascinating stories of ancient life and how it was decimated by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
During the course of the tour, you will stop at the major Pompeii attractions such as the Roman bakery, the Temple of Apollo, the Roman Forum, an ancient supermarket, and an old cemetery. See the daunting plastic death casts of people who were caught in the eruption. The guide might also take you to an ancient brothel.
Next, you will stroll along the city walls offering panoramic views of Naples and Capri.
After exploring the main parts of Pompeii, your tour will end at the entrance to the site.
Reaching Pompeii by train from Rome:
First, take a train from Rome (“Roma Termini”) to Naples (“Napoli Centrale”).
We recommend taking the fastest train, Frecciarossa, which takes about one hour.
Please reach meeting point 15 minute prior to the departure time.
Once at the Napoli Centrale train station, take the Circumvesuviana train, which you can access directly from the Naples station. Take the Napoli-Sorrento Circumvesuviana line. Trains leave about every half hour, arriving at the Pompeii Scavi – Villa dei Misteri stop in about 30 minutes.
