Indulge your senses like a true Louisianan on a New Orleans Cultural Grand Tour!
During your New Orleans Cultural Grand Tour, you’ll learn about the history of Jazz in the very city where Jazz legend Louis Armstrong was born. New Orleans is famous for its impromptu street performances and live gigs. Some people claim that New Orleans got its nickname ‘The Big Easy’ because struggling musicians could earn a better living here than other places. Unsurprisingly, New Orleans’s streets overflow with musicians and local talent at any time of day. The nightlife remains vibrant, to say the least. And, you can expect to see people walking down the street with a drink in hand.
At Louis Armstrong Park, you will learn about Armstrong’s life and the origins of Jazz, springing from the African-American communities in New Orleans. After our Jazz history lesson, you’ll proceed to the Marigny neighborhood, famous for its happening nightlife. From there, we will go to Frenchmen Street, where you can find the largest concentration of live music venues in the city. Your guide will take you to the most famous and popular places and buy you a beer.
Next, you’ll taste the best food New Orleans has to offer! Start off with a delicious, flaky pastry. New Orleans’s famous Beignet is hard to pronounce but easy to love! Just be careful about the wind direction so you don’t end up covered in powdered sugar! Afterwards, head over to The French Market, America’s oldest public marketplace. A place teeming with activity from the olden days to the present, The French Market delivers local bites which are sure to please the palate.
Then, make your way over to the famed streets of the French Quarter for more southern delicacies. The fertile lands and abundant seafood, along with spices from all around the world, produce some of the most mouth-watering dishes in the world. And, it’s all right here in New Orleans. And, since Louisiana is the birthplace of Tabasco™, try some of the state’s spiciest and tastiest sauces, too! Learn all about the history of Gumbo history and taste the best Gumbo in town! Finish with a delicious dessert in the form of a New Orleans’s favorite: Pralines!
Finally, you’ll learn about the extensive history of mixology in New Orleans. Visit historical bars that once served as the watering hole for pirates, military generals, and world-famous writers. Start in the famous Jackson Square, where the Louisiana Purchase was made in 1803. Your friendly, local guide will take you off the well-beaten tourist trail so you can experience New Orleans like a true local. You’ll discover great bars that enjoy local fame and are rarely frequented by outsiders.
In New Orleans, it is perfectly acceptable to drink at any time of the day. And, as a result of this rare, social freedom, the city has come up with various dessert-like cocktail concoctions. Watch how the famous Ramos Gin Fizz is made by an expert bartender before tasting it for yourself! Learn the history of Sazerac, the official drink of New Orleans. If you like trying new drinks, then the New Orleans Cultral Grand Tour is one of the best things to do in New Orleans!
