Overview

Nowhere else in London is quite like Brixton. The buzz, smells and sounds are all unique to this South London ‘hood; home to a tight-knit community of cultural groups that have set up shop here over the years. Sure, Brixton may not be on the traditional tourist track, but it’s worth the deviation. Of course, sightseeing can be tricky on limited time – and that’s where this experience steps in. Guided by a local host, you’ll explore Brixton’s most iconic spots and enjoy some lesser-known local hangouts too. From frenetic markets to historic landmarks, street food vendors to craft breweries, this personalised ‘best of’ experience is the perfect intro to colourful Brixton.

About your guide

‘Unscripted’ is right. This tour company is all about seeing London from the locals’ perspective. Don’t expect any regurgitated spiels, local hosts with City Unscripted have a more laid-back, impromptu approach to guiding.

Here’s the plan…

Itineraries don’t fly with City Unscripted. Experiences are completely personalised, meaning guides lead you through the spots that suit you, and share their own stories and take on the local scene along the way. So, there’s a few variables on this Brixton tour, but what we can tell you is: you’ll be paired with a local host who knows South London through and through, and you’ll visit the shops, bars, cafes and community-led projects that make Brixton the crazy, colourful, perfect hot mess that it is today. Along the way, you’ll explore the markets (Brixton has many), partake in some bites and bevs, and check out some of London’s most interesting street art – we’re talking massive murals (including a stunning David Bowie dedication) and sensational little illustrations. The birthplace of Ziggy Stardust was never going to be boring, now, was it?
