It feels like you are going back in time, when you head towards Hahndorf, Adelaide’s oldest German settlement. Experience the charm of quaint, historic hills villages, enjoy a 2-course lunch and tastings at boutique wineries of Angaston.

Depart from Adelaide towards the Barossa Valley wine region. Notice the change in landscape as you pass from the city to the wine region. Your first stop will be the world famous Jacob’s Creek Winery.
Jacob’s Creek is one of the most popular Australian wine brands, exported to over 60 countries. You will visit the multi-award winning Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre where you will have the opportunity to sample their famous wines in a structured tasting, take a tour of the surrounding vines and cellar door and enjoy morning tea as you overlook the vineyards.
After Jacob’s Creek, you will head to Mengler Hill Lookout for views over the Barossa. Next stop is Saltram Wine Estate, Angaston, one of the top premium wine producers in Australia. Learn about the famous ‘Saltram Story’ and enjoy exclusive cellar door tastings!
Next, you will wind your way towards the picturesque Adelaide Hills to reach Adelaide’s oldest German settlement, Hahndorf. See over 100 year old elm and plane trees standing tall along the Main Street. You will still find the traditional Fachwerk buildings dating back to the German settlements, of which many have been restored to original conditions. The streets of Hahndorf are lined with eateries, galleries, art and craft outlets and souvenir shops.
You will also visit the famous Herbig Family Tree, a large hollow red gum tree which provided a home to the Herbig family until 1860.
Before you take a leisurely stroll to explore the many shops and galleries, you will take pleasure in a scrumptious 2 course lunch and wine tastings from 2 boutique wineries at the South Australian Company Store, Angaston!
