The UNESCO World Heritage site is considered to be one of the most stunning architectural complexes in the world and comprises of Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, the Pisa Baptistery of St. John, the Camposanto Monumentale and of course, the Campanile or the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
The Square, completed around the 19th century, is home to a spectacular display of Renaissance, Medieval and Gothic architecture, and is truly a sight for sore eyes. Central to religious life since the Etruscans, the structures represent various stages of our lives with the Baptistery signifying birth, the Cathedral as a symbol of life and the Camposanto alluding death. The Leaning Tower of Pisa does not take up any special significance as it is in actuality just the freestanding bell tower for the Cathedral although it definitely is quite the engineering feat.

Don’t forget to hand over any bags or luggage, that you may be carrying, to the luggage office before climbing the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Please understand that the Pisa Cathedral is the seat of the Archbishop of Pisa and frequently holds special services, during which we may not be able to tour the inside of the Cathedral. In such a scenario, we will make it up with a guided tour of the Piazza dei Cavalieri or the Knight’s Square.
Unfortunately, children under 8 years of age are not allowed inside the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
