Statue Of Liberty Tickets

Welcome to the New World, the land of freedom and opportunity. Nowhere do these American values come to life more than at the Statue of Liberty. The sight that has greeted millions of immigrants to American shores for decades, the Statue of Liberty has stood tall for more than 100 years. Traipsing all the way from France, Lady Liberty made the perilous journey to the USA via ship in 350 individual parts, her copper façade packed into 214 crates and reassembled on arrival. From her French beginnings in 1886 all the way to now, the Statue of Liberty still holds her own as an iconic symbol for Americans and travellers alike, holding the torch – literally – for all those seeking a better, freer existence. How many other top attractions can say that?

Our tips for Statue of Liberty

  • Strike a deal. Combine your visit to Liberty Island with a trip to Ellis Island to save time and money. We offer great, combination Statue of Liberty tickets ideal for bargain-hunters.
  • Have a picnic. Take time out to enjoy Liberty Island’s green spaces and have lunch alfresco-style. Queues for food may be lengthy so your best bet is to pack your own lunch to make the most of the day.
  • Burn, baby, burn… or not. Shade is hard to come by on Liberty Island. Avoid pesky sunburns on Statue of Liberty tours and keep a hat and sunscreen handy throughout.

Good to know

Best time to visit
Ferry lines for Liberty Island are longest during the summer months, peaking on the weekend. Avoid lengthy lines and take your Statue of Liberty tour in the off-season during the week.
Getting there
You can’t miss Lady Liberty, although she’s not exactly easy to get to. The best way to reach her is by ferry, but lines are notoriously long. Departing from Battery Park in Manhattan, ferry services run throughout the day, although we highly recommend booking your Statue of Liberty tickets and travel well in advance to avoid missing this hotspot.
Money saving tips
Strapped for cash? Don’t fret, if you book in advance a visit to the Statue of Liberty won’t break the bank. Pre-booked tickets in the tourist off-season see prices reduce considerably, while bringing your own snacks and drinks through the day will also reduce costs.
Did you know?
Impress your fellow travellers with these interesting titbits about Lady Liberty herself…
  • The creators of Lady Liberty didn’t realise she would turn green with age. In the 1920’s, 40 years following its opening, the Statue of Liberty’s copper façade began to green.
  • America’s suffragists didn’t take too kindly to Lady Liberty. They found the sculpture symbolising a free and strong woman didn’t represent their everyday reality struggling to gain the right to vote. It would take another 34 years after Lady Liberty’s erection before women would gain voting rights.
  • The statue’s full title is ‘Liberty Enlightening the World’. Lady Liberty wears a shoe size 879 and her waistline is just over 35 feet.
