  • Overview & Itinerary

Explore the dark and sinister side of London on this chilling tour by coach and on foot. Be prepared for goose-bumps when you pass the most haunted house in London where terrifying happenings occurred throughout the 19th century.

Hear about a gaggle of ghostly apparitions at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, including a kindly spectre who helps nervous actors. Shudder at the tale of the demon barber of Fleet Street.

Leave your coach in the East End of London and step bravely into the night. Imagine you are back in 1888 where, under the cover of cold, foggy nights and dimly-lit alleys, a reign of terror was unleashed in the district of Whitechapel.

Walk through the streets where Jack the Ripper committed his grisly crimes, killing five hapless women and holding London to ransom by his murderous spree.

Learn the clues and hear about the suspects. Form your own theories about the identity of this notorious serial killer.

If you are brave enough, end the evening in London’s most haunted pub where a soldier was brutally dispatched after cheating at cards.

Explore the scary side of town on the Ghosts of London and Jack the Ripper Tour. There is no hotel pick-up for this tour. You should make your way to pick-up point at The Original Tour Visitors Centre, (17-19 Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square, London SW1Y 5BL) at 1900h (7:00pm).

You will be picked up in a luxury coach and will set off with your professional guide to see the ghostliest parts of London. Your guide will point out No 50 Berkeley Square, a house that is said to be ‘so charged with psychic energy that merely touching the external brickwork can give a mild shock to the psychically inclined’. In the 19th century it was known as as 'the most haunted house in London' because of the terrifying phenomena experienced there.

No one knows why this Georgian mansion, now an antiquarian bookshop, should have such a fearsome reputation, although various theories have advanced. A book on haunted houses, published in 1907, stated that “… It seems that a Something or Other, very terrible indeed, haunts or did haunt a particular room. This unnamed Raw Head and Bloody Bones, or whatever it is, has been sufficiently awful to have caused the death, in convulsions, of at least two foolhardy persons who have dared to sleep in that chamber…”

You will hear about the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, said to be one of the world's most haunted theatres. The appearance of almost any one of the handful of ghosts is said to signal good luck for an actor or production. Most famous is the ‘Man in Grey’, who appears dressed as a nobleman of the late 18th century. Others include the ghosts of actor Charles Macklin, who killed a fellow actor in an argument over a wig, and comedian Joe Grimaldi, who is said to guide nervous actors skilfully about the stage.

The coach tour lasts an hour and will drop you in London’s notorious East End, a hotbed of crime and vice in the 19th century. During the autumn of 1888, terror struck when Jack the Ripper came out of the fog and dimly lit alleys just long enough to stalk and butcher his victims.

On a 45-minute walking tour you will visit the sites where, in 1888, the Ripper hunted and gruesomely murdered five London prostitutes. Your guide will tell you about the suspects in this unsolved case and the clues that led all the way to the Royal will also see the 10 Bells Pub, built in 1752 where many of Jack the Ripper's victims were said to have drunk.

Your tour ends at around 2200h (10:00pm) at Trafalgar Square. You will need to make your own arrangements to return to your accommodation.
