A true Japanese experience awaits when you embark on a food tour and then learn the art of Japanese calligraphy. Get up, close with Japan’s rich culture and heritage when you eat your way through local markets away from the tourists and visit a calligraphy studio.

Here’s the plan

You will begin your tour with a local sweet delicacy from a 100-year-old shop known for creating authentic Japanese snacks and classics found nowhere in Tokyo. Then you head to a famous shopping arcade, Jizo Dori, and stop at a famous temple. Your guide will tell you why this area is popular among the young Tokyo residents. While you walk past the shops, you will reach the Harajuku district, Japan’s foremost youthful shopping and fashion district. Here, you will also arrive at a stretch of road, known as ‘Old Generations’ road for its contrast to the rest of the district.

There’s more to see, smell and eat as you browse through pickle stores, snack stalls and shops selling local goods. Your guide will then take you to a popular food joint for lunch and delish dessert.

After lunch, it is time to bring your creative juices at play as you arrive at a calligraphy studio and learn the ancient art of Japanese Calligraphy called Shodo. Your teacher will help you create your own Japanese Kanji character with brush and ink. At the end of the workshop, you will take home a T-shirt with your character on it.
