Overview

Don’t miss the opportunity to see magnificent humpback whales on migration between Antarctica and the Great Barrier Reef.

Board a purpose-built catamaran and sail out to Sydney Heads on a thrilling eco-adventure. During the cruise, a knowledgeable and enthusiastic marine biologist will tell you all about the whales and other wildlife.

Your exhilarating trip comes with a guarantee. In the unlikely event that you do not see the whales, you will be offered a return cruise free for use during the current season.

What's the plan:

To join your Whale Watch Cruise From Sydney you should make your way to the designated meeting point. You will be welcomed aboard your 21-meter catamaran.

Sydney is an excellent place for whale watching. Every year, between late May and late November, thousands of humpback and other whales migrate along the Australian coastline to their feeding and breeding grounds.

Whale watchers from Sydney are able to catch the whales on both the winter migration northwards (late May to August) and the spring migration southwards (September to November).

Unlike other migrating whales, humpbacks tend to swim quite close to shore, which makes them easy to see. They are also the most exciting whales to watch because they often leap right out of the water, a type of behavior known as ‘breaching’.

Your cruise will take you out to Sydney Heads and into the Pacific. During the trip, an expert marine biologist will give a commentary on the wildlife. You may encounter dolphins and seals as well as a rich variety of ocean birds. These could include the wandering albatross, penguins, petrels, shearwaters, and skuas among others.

A buffet BBQ lunch will be served during the 4-hour cruise.

At the end of the trip you will be dropped back to the original departure point.

Inclusions

  • 4-hour whale watch cruise
  • Informative commentary on whales
  • Buffet BBQ lunch including tea, coffee and water
  • Fact sheet on whales

Exclusions

  • Hotel pick-up and drop-off
  • Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages

Please note

The confirmation voucher includes the local activity operator’s contact details. They’re a nice bunch, and will happily answer any logistical questions you may have. Please give them a call at least 24 hours before your organised activity to reconfirm.

So there’s no last-minute rush please arrive at the start point 15 minutes early.

We cannot guarantee that whales are sighted on all cruises although it is rare that whales are not sighted. In the unfortunate instance where whales are not sighted guests will be offered a return cruise free for use during the current season. This cannot be exchanged for money and refunds are not given.

Voucher information: Sorry, but we will need you to print a paper version of your booking voucher (we're working on changing this ). At this time no refund can be given for customers without a printed copy of their voucher.
