Overview

Every street, every square, every nook and cranny in Seville has a tale to tell as you will discover during this intriguing two-hour panoramic tour. You will see its beauty and splendour but also uncover a dark side to its past thanks to its legends and traditions.

The tour begins in the district of San Bartolome, named after the beautiful neo-classical St Bartholomew’s Church, which was built on the site of a synagogue. This neighbourhood had once been a Jewish stronghold but a mass pogrom in 1391 annihilated the community and by the time of their eventual expulsion from the city a century later, few were left. Learn about the methods used by the Christians to expel the Jews during these terrible, tumultuous years.

Continue through to the Convent of the Mother of God and Calle Cabeza del Rey Don Pedro (Street of the Head of the King Sir Pedro) so named after a legendary event that took place there, and which you will hear all about. Wander through the San Esteban neighbourhood before pausing at the Casa de Pilatos, the palace of the Dukes of Medinaceli, and the Pila del Pato fountain. Head to the birthplace of the great artist Diego Velazquez and observe its small proportions. View the Convent of St Ines and the Palace of the Dueñas, seat of the Dukes of Alba, before ending the tour in the Alameda de Hercules.
