Discover Australia’s only Benedictine Abbey and the mystical Pinnacles Desert with the Pinnacles Desert and New Norcia Tour. A must for nature lovers, this tour will take you through the historical Guildford and Swan Valley to New Norcia, the only monastic town in Australia.
Enjoy a picnic lunch at Western Wildflower Farm before heading to the Nambung National Park, which is home to the Pinnacles Desert.
An English speaking guide will accompany you throughout the tour, escorting you to the important sights and giving you useful information about the history and culture of the places.
You will depart from Perth and head towards the historical Guildford and the Swan Valley. On your way you will come across Perth’s Pearce Air Force Base through the orange growing district of Bindoon to reach fascinating New Norcia.
New Norcia is the only surviving monastic town of Australia. Home to the Benedictine Abbey , drive through the town and learn about its intriguing history and culture of the community before stopping for morning tea (not included in the tour). You will also visit a local produce shop from where you can purchase Benedictine Community goods like olive oil, fruit wine, delicious Norcia nut cake and fresh breads. If time permits, you can also visit the museum and art gallery (not included in the tour).
Next, you will head past Moora to the Western Wildflower Farm and see for yourself how wildflowers are preserved for export. You will be accompanied by guide who will explain you the process. This will be followed by a nice picnic lunch at the farm.
After lunch, you will head to the fishing town of Cervantes which is known for rock lobsters. These lobsters are primarily exported to Japan.
Your final stop will be the Nambung National Park, home of the mystical Pinnacles Desert. Walk through the fascinating landscape with the help of the guide who share notes on the park’s origin and the scenery.
