Board an elegant vintage schooner from the Roaring Twenties for a cruise around New York Harbor in luxury and comfort.
Relax on the fine teak decks as the sails fill and the wake fans out astern. See the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge and New York's famous skyline as you glide quietly through the water.
Sample superb wines from the cellars of America's oldest wine importer with a wine expert to guide you. Then, refresh your palate with some well-chosen snacks.
Return to shore promising yourself you will do this again soon.
There is no hotel pick-up for Shearwater New York Harbor Wine Tasting Sail. You should make your way to South side of the North Cove Marina, Behind World Financial Center, Hudson River, where you will board the elegant vintage schoonerShearwater.
Built at the height of Roaring Twenties, 82-foot ‘Shearwater’ was the personal yacht of Charles E. Dunlap, a prominent New York City industrialist. She is superbly maintained, with sparkling paintwork, polished brass portholes and chrome trim. Her large Rangoon teak decks offer plenty of space for sitting and relaxing.
Below are mahogany-paneled staterooms, decorated with period furnishings, and a salon with leaded glass cabinets, fireplace, butterfly hatches and large gimbaled table.
You will sail quietly past the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge and the historic sites of New York Harbor . You can admire the famousManhattan skyline as you revel in the wind-powered elegance of this vintage ocean cruiser. Depending on the winds and tides, the captain may sail up the Buttermilk Channel or out to the Verrazzano Bridge, which spans the ocean entrance to the Harbor.
As the sails fill and you cruise along, author Felicia Sherbert and/ or other guest wine experts will introduce you to an excellent selection of wines from the refined cellars of Frederick Wildman & Bros - America's oldest wine importer.
At the end of your relaxing and enjoyable sail, you will be dropped back at the starting point.
