Your unforgettable New York Helicopter Tour – Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey adventure begins when you make your way to the Downtown Manhattan Heliport at Pier 6 on the East River, located between the South Street Seaport and the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.
After watching a safety video and receiving a safety briefing from the crew you will rise into the air over The Big Apple. As you soar over the city, you’ll enjoy an up-close view of the Statue of Liberty, that marvelous gift from the people of France to the U.S.A. As you hover over Ellis Island, you’ll remember the millions of immigrants whose first views of the U.S.A were at that very spot. From 1892 until 1954, this was the busiest immigrant inspection station in the U.S.A
Heading to Brooklyn, you’ll fly over the Verrazano Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in North America and the starting point for the New York City Marathon. From here, you can see the resorts and amusement parks of Coney Island, and the manmade Hoffman Island and Swinburne Island. These islands were used for quarantining immigrants with communicable diseases and as training grounds for the U.S. military in WWII. Hoffman Island now hosts a variety of nesting wading birds and harbor seals have been wintering at both islands in the last 10 years.
As you make your way up the Hudson River, you’ll enjoy the sights of the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building, those iconic Art Deco structures that symbolize the New York City skyline. You’ll be impressed by the World Financial Center, home to companies such as American Express and Merrill Lynch. On non-game days, you’ll take in the landmark Yankee Stadium, and you’ll thrill to the astounding sight of the New Jersey Palisades, a line of steep cliffs along the west side of the lower Hudson River. You’ll see the impress grounds of Columbia University and witness the vitality and flavor of Harlem.
You’ll fly over the Chelsea Piers, which were used for passenger ships in the early 20th century and were the destination of the ill-fated Titanic. At the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, you’ll see a collection of museum ships, including the USS Intrepid and the Concorde SST, as well as the Space Shuttle Enterprise.
Along the New Jersey Coast, you’ll have remarkable views of the Goldman Sachs Tower, the tallest building in New Jersey, as well as the Colgate Clock and Liberty State Park, which was opened in 1976 as part of the celebrations for the bicentennial of American Independence.
You’ll see Ground Zero, the site of the World Trade Center, where the city’s and the nation’s heart was broken on September 11, 2001.
Upon completion of the tour, you will disembark at the Downtown Manhattan Heliport and be free to make your way back to your accommodation.
