Your exciting five-day excursion from New York begins with us driving north through the beautiful Delaware Gap to Watkins Glen State Park in the Finger Lakes region. Take a stroll along the magnificent Watkins Glen Gorge Trail to the famous waterfalls inside the State Park. Afterwards, continue your journey, passing the stunning Seneca Lake on the way and arriving at Niagara Falls in the late afternoon. Tour the American side of the Falls including the American Falls, Goat Island, and Three Sisters Islands before embarking on the enthralling Maid of the Mist to experience the magnitude of the Niagara's power as you cruise along its sweeping currents, hear the roaring cascades and feel the spray of water on your face.
We’ll also get to admire the iconic Falls lit up in the evening before heading to Ramada by Wyndham where we will spend our night.
Having savoured a lovely breakfast, we will visit the majestic Horseshoe Falls (largest of the three Falls making up Niagara) for a close-up look and a feel of the water’s true power. We will then depart around noon for the picturesque village of Niagara on The Lake before going on to Toronto (during spring, this part of the tour is omitted and we will be taken straight to Toronto). Our first stop at the largest city of the Canadian capital is the HTO Park, Brookfield Place, home to the Hockey Hall of Fame, post which we will also make a trip to the City Hall as well as the Distillery Historic District for a comprehensive feel of this lovely city.
Finally, we will travel east along Lake Ontario to arrive at the 1000 Islands area around evening, where we will stop for the night at Gananoque – Clarion Inn, a three-star hotel with restaurant, indoor pool, sauna, and fitness center. The hotel is located in the beautiful Bay of Quinte tourist region and the comfortable rooms have all modern amenities, making it a perfect place to hang your boots after an equally fun day.
Enjoy a cruise that showcases the magnificent beauty of the Thousand Islands on the St. Laurence River that was navigated about 500 years ago by the French explorer Jacques Cartier. Admire the elaborate island mansions, a fashionable retreat for the elite and see Boldt Castle and Heart Island. On the way back to New York, enjoy some retail therapy at one of the large outlet malls along the way, find your own bargain with brand name stores for less. Arrive in New Jersey in the evening and spend the night at the La Quinta Inn and Suites, Clifton, NJ.
Depart from New Jersey and arrive in Philadelphia. Visit the famous Liberty Bell, one of the symbols of freedom in America, Constitution square and Congress Hall. Explore Elfreth’s alley the oldest continuously inhabited street in America. Visit notable Philadelphia attractions that includes the financial district, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Historic Philadelphia and more. Departing Philadelphia, see the famous “Rocky Steps” and then continue to Lancaster county home of the Amish people.
Enjoy an authentic Amish Buggy ride through the Amish farm country and learn how they live without the benefit of modern technology, no electricity, running water, telephone service, or appliances. After the ride, spend time at the marketplace and shop for handmade arts crafts and products. In the late afternoon we depart east for an evening arrival in Washington DC. You will be spending the night at Wyndham Garden, Washington DC.
Our final day is kick started with a visit to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial by the Tidal Basin, surrounded with famous Japanese cherry blossom trees, making for a perfect place to sink into some American history as well as an exquisitely pretty ambiance. Continuing our trail through history, we will head to the Arlington National Cemetery where nearly 300,000 veterans and military casualties are buried. This is where you can treat yourself to witnessing the phenomenal Changing of The Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns as well as make a stop at the graves of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, his widow, Jacqueline (Jackie) Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, their two young children and Rober F. Kennedy.
Of course, no trip to DC is complete without stopping at the heart of American politics - the Capitol Hill and the White House. Marvelling at the buildings dripping in grandeur, it is sometimes quite hard to fathom how one group of people influence almost the entire world. Continuing on to exploring the renowned National Air and Space Museum, home to the largest collection of aircraft and spacecraft in the world, before finally visiting the National Mall where you can pay homage to the Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Korean and Vietnamese War Memorials.
