You will also explore Milan’s imposing Sforza Castle, commissioned by Francesco Sforza, one of the most prominent rulers of Milan. Admire the beauty of the castle and learn how it has been variously used as a military base, s royal residence and now home to a museum complex.

You will also take a tour of the beautiful little cloister of Santa Maria delle Grazie and Piazzale Cadorna with its suggestive square. Your guide will lead the tour throughout and keep you engrossed with captivating commentary.

Itinerary

Your tour will begin with a visit to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. After a short introduction your guide will escort you inside to see The Last Supper.

Renowned for realism ahead of its time, the mural portrays the emotional response of each of the 12 apostles when Jesus predicts that one of them will betray him. All 12 Apostles react differently to the news, showing various degrees of shock and angst.

Da Vinci’s painting has suffered much damage over the years, and to protect this inimitable work, only a small number of visitors are allowed to view it at any one time. The painting featured prominently in Dan Brown's bestseller, The Da Vinci Code resulting in increased curiosity to see it.

Your tour continues to Piazzale Cadorna, famous for the giant sculpture of Needle, Thread and Knot (Ago, filo e nodo) by Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coosje van Bruggen. The sculpture was unveiled in the year 2000 as a part of massive redesign of the square and pays tribute to Milan’s prominence in the world of Fashion.
