Duration: 4 hours
Your Malta/ Gozo accommodation.
Wander through the beautiful Baroque architecture through sites that were developed and engineered by knights who lived hundreds of years ago. Often described as a “city of palaces,” Valleta promises those as well as scenic gardens and imposing churches. Gaze at St. John’s Cathedral and the nearby Grand Master’s Palace both of which contain unique artifacts from Valleta’s history. Conclude your afternoon with the unique “Malta Experience,” a multi-vision show that will give you a fun and interactive understanding of Malta’s unique history.
The tour begins with a pick-up from your hotel by air-conditioned luxury coach where a multi-lingual guide (fluent in English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Swedish, Norwegian , and Italian) will greet you.
For Gozo departures, you will be picked up in either a taxi or a mini-bus from your Gozo accomodation to Mgarr Gozo port (included is the ferry ticket from Mgarr Gozo to Cirkewwa port on Malta - journey takes approx. 30mins). Once you get off the ferry walk along the pier and you will see the first and only building Paradise Bay Hotel. Its just a 100 yards away from the ferry terminal and cannot be missed since the surroundings are fields and countryside. The guests must wait at the reception until the guide picks them up for the start of the excursion.
From there you will wander through the bustling streets until you arrive at the Barracca Gardens in Valleta which was meant to be a peaceful relaxation point for the 17th century knights that built it.
From the gardens you will have a magical view of the Grand Harbour an impressive crossroads at the Mediterranean Sea and an historical trading area. See the St. Johns Cathedral which also dates back to the Knights of Malta and displays the world renowned Caravaggio painting in the Oratory of the Cathedral.
Then you will travel to the St. Johns Co-Cathedral Museum which is adorned with Flemish tapestries from the 17th century. Also see the beautiful illuminated choral books.
Pass the Grand Master’s Palace where you will be able to snap a photo from the outside. It was here where all of the Grandmasters who ruled Malta lived from the 16th through the 18th centuries.
Finally you stop to view the “Malta Experience,” a multi-vision show that depicts Malta’s turbulent history.
The tour will conclude with you being dropped off at your Malta hotel or at Malta's port (tours departing from Gozo) for your ferry back to Gozo, at the other end you will be met by either a taxi/ minibus to be dropped back at your Gozo accommodation.
Please call the activity operator at least 24 hours prior to start of the tour for reconfirming departure details
Hotel pick up is available from most Malta hotels, however some Malta hotels have very narrow access streets, if you are staying in one such hotel and it is not possible for a coach to drive to your hotel you will be advised on a pick up point. Pick up point would only be a few minutes away on foot, usually around 200 meters away
The ferry company does not allow us to pre pay ferry tickets for children so the guests would have to buy the ferry tickets for the children themselves
