Just sit back and enjoy the view while your experienced guide tells you stories of old and interesting tales. They will tell you all about Northern Ireland and its history. Each of our guides are unique and will add their own knowledge of the area and make your tour one to remember.
Once we leave Dublin and hit the motorway we will head directly for the great city of Belfast. When we arrive in the city we will begin your introduction by giving a political and historical guided tour of the city. Let us take you on an insightful journey to the great city of Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland. Visit the Republican museum (Tuesday to Saturday only), Peace Wall and murals of West Belfast, acting as stark reminders of the times of political turmoil, now coined ‘the Troubles’. After free time to explore Belfast city centre, jump aboard the HMS Caroline for a tour of a real life war ship that served in WW1 and WW2. You will then visit the highlight of the tour, the Titanic Experience Tour.
The spectacular tour takes you from Dublin at the designated start time to the historic city of Belfast in Northern Ireland. To join the tour, make your way to the tourist office in the Old Church, Suffolk Street, Dublin City Centre. During the tour there will be stops every 1 ½ hours or so, in order that you can stretch your legs.
Then you will arrive in Belfast City! Around 10:30am, you will drive around West Belfast, which is comprised of 'Loyalists' (allegiance to the Queen) on one side and Republicans(those who want a united Ireland) on the other. Your guide will show you the dividing wall called 'The Peace Wall' - a wall forcing peace by separation. Next, you will head towards East Belfast to visit the Harland and Wolff shipyard, one of the biggest in the U.K. in its time. Many ships were launched from this yard, most famously the Titanic!
Around 12:00pm( noon) you'll have worked up a hunger by now so your guide will drop you into the city centre for some free time and to grab a bit to eat (own expense). There are lots of things to discover and explore in this vibrant city. Here are some suggestions –
• Visit the busiest and arguably the best bar in Belfast. The Victorian Crown Bar.
• Visit the Grand Opera house and visit St. Anne's cathedral.
• The Albert Memorial Clock, Belfast's own leaning clock tower.
• Visit one of the main landmark buildings in the city - Belfast City Hall.
After lunch at your own expense, your guide will take you to the HMS Caroline around 2:00pm. This is a real life combat ship that served in both WW1 and WW2. She was the last survivor of the Battle of Jutland still afloat. Afterwards , you will get to see the highlight of the tour, the Titanic Experience Tour around 3:00pm . Here you will learn all about Titanic’s tragic maiden voyage across the Atlantic.
Sadly all great adventures must come to an end. However the memories will last a lifetime so sit back while your guide plays some traditional music and enjoy reminiscing about your day tour to the north as you make your way back to Dublin around 7:15pm.
