Overview

Tarantos, located in the heart of the city, in Plaza Real 17, by Las Ramblas, is the oldest and one of the best respected flamenco tablaos in the city of Barcelona. It opened its doors in 1963 and artists as important as Antonio Gades, Niña Pastori, Duqende or Miguel poveda have appeared on its stage. Every night, you can enjoy best flamenco dancers and singers in a 30 minutes show at 8.30, 9.30 and 10.30p.m. Pure art!

With the idea of offering a full flamenco show, with guitar, singing and dancing and, of course, the most representative palos from the genre, a different cuadro is scheduled for each day of the week, usually repeating their performances four times a month. The performances are divided into half-hour sessions at 8.30, 9.30 and 10.30pm.

The reasonable ticket prices and proven quality of the musicians and dancers performing every night have made the Tarantos one of the most popular tablaos in the city, and there are normally queues every night of the week for each of the three sets. The club welcomes both passing strangers to Barcelona who have found out about the show’s strict artistic credentials and local fans who come along drawn by the performers on the bill.

When it comes to drawing up the programme for the tablao, the management of Los Tarantos takes into account the academic rigour of each group of performers, the track record of the members of the group, and their capacity to adapt to a standard format in which spectators can recognise the most characteristic traits of the flamenco art. The show makes no concessions of any kind to the tourist audience in the form of amateur or low-quality artists, but neither is it a session aimed exclusively at scholars of the Andalusian genre.

This is a show for all audiences performed by a selection of professionals who have proved themselves in the world of flamenco, such as Alba Carmona, Nacho Blanco, Yolanda Cortés, Iván Alcalá, Iñaki Màrquez, Juan Cortés and David Domínguez.
