Take a half-day sightseeing tour to visit the magnificent Wats (temple-monasteries) for which the city is famous. See the awe-inspiring Golden Buddha, the huge reclining Buddha and the lovely marble temple of Wat Benchamabophit.
In the evening enjoy the finest international and seafood buffet in Thailand at the renowned Sky Restaurant at Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Eat as much as you like of the delectable dishes on offer while you gaze out at the sparkling city lights from the 76th or 78th floor.
Bangkok is renowned for its night-life. End your delightful day with a glittering cabaret experience featuring Bangkok’s most beautiful ‘Kathoey’ (transvestites), acrobatics, athleticism, extravagant costumes, the longest and loveliest legs in town, and even a cameo appearance by Marilyn Monroe.
Two of the three options offered for this tour involve very small groups, which make for a much more personal experience.
This magical Bangkok Tour Package with Dinner and Showcleverly combines history and culture with delicious food and sparkling entertainment. At the start of the day you will be picked up from your downtown hotel in an air-conditioned car or mini-van. An English-speaking guide will accompany you. (Guides speaking other languages are available for an extra charge and with prior booking.)
You will be escorted on a Half-Day Temples and City Tour. This fascinating 4-hour excursion takes you to three of Bangkok’s finest temple- monasteries or ‘Wats’.
You will visit Wat Traimit – Temple of the Golden Buddha – with its 3-meter tall statue of the Buddha, made of solid gold and weighing 5.5 tons. It is a prime example of Sukhothai art and was found by chance under a layer of stucco during building operations.
The next stop is at Wat Pho – the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. At 46 meters in length and 15 meters high, the Buddha is the largest in Bangkok and illustrates the passing of the Buddha into nirvana. Wat Pho is also regarded as the first centre of public education in Thailand. Murals, inscriptions and statues at the temple taught people about subjects as varied as literature, warfare, archaeology, astronomy, geology, meditation and massage.
The third temple on the tour is Wat Benchamabophit, the magnificent Marble Temple. Built in the 19th century, this is a more modern structure than the two temples you saw earlier. It is built of white Carrera (Italian) marble and has ornate crossbeams decorated with lacquer and gold.
Your tour will end at 1230h (12.30 pm) and you will then be dropped back at your hotel. You then have some time at leisure before the evening’s activities.
Your program for the evening includes a buffet dinner at Bangkok Sky Restaurant on 76th or 78th floor, Baiyoke Sky Hotel. At whatever time you choose, a vehicle will come to pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Baiyoke Sky Hotel.
The Bangkok Sky Restaurant features the greatest international and seafood buffet in Thailand plus panoramic views of the city. The sumptuous spread includes the river prawns, scallops, crabs cooked in various styles, grilled salad, cocktail, spicy seafood soup, fried crab in curry paste, steamed prawns in salt, Tempura Seafood or seafood Teppanyaki, plus unlimited soft drinks. You will also enjoy admission to the Observation Deck on 77th floor and Revolving View Point on 84th floor.
You can arrange with the tour company for your group to be picked up from the Bangkok Sky Restaurant and driven to the Calypso Cabaret Show. Here you will enjoy a 75-minute glittering entertainment including beautiful transvestite and transsexual dancers, extravagant feathered costumes, haunting love songs, jazz dancing and even an appearance by ‘Marilyn Monroe’!
If you prefer – you could enjoy the show first and then have dinner. Just let the tour operator know how you wish to plan your evening.
At the end of your night out, you will be taken back to your hotel.
