Leaving Amsterdam, stop at the city of Delft to tour one of the famous potteries and learn the history of the highly collectable blue-and-white Delft-ware.
Your journey then takes you to The Hague, the official seat of The Netherlands’ government, where you will see all the important landmarks.
The Amsterdam City Tour, Delft, The Hague combo tour is a perfect introduction to the beauty of Holland’s landscapes and cityscapes.
The day begins with a panoramic city tour of Amsterdam, traveling in a comfortable coach with an English-speaking guide. A multi-lingual commentary will be available for those who do not speak English.
Amsterdam is The Netherlands’ largest city. Settled as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, it became one of the world’s most important ports during the Dutch Golden Age.
On your sightseeing tour, you will see many of the main highlights. These include:
• The neo-classical Royal Palace, on Dam Square, which served as the city hall from 1655 until it was turned into a royal residence in 1808;
• The National Monument, a white stone pillar erected in 1956 to commemorate the victims of World War II;
• The famous “Skinny Bridge”, a typical Dutch wooden lifting bridge. Originally very narrow, the bridge has been widened over the years, but it remains one of Amsterdam’s most photogenic bridges.
• The gorgeous gabled canal-side houses built by wealthy merchants
• The bustling Albert Cuyp street market.
Your city sightseeing tour also includes a photo-stop at a windmill, a visit to a diamond factory.
After a break of approximately 3 hours, you will then head out of Amsterdam and travel to the pretty town of Delft to tour one of the famous Delft blue potteries. The blue-and-white pottery was copied from Chinese porcelain in the 17th century but then became coveted in its own right.
Leaving Delft you will continue to The Hague, the official seat of The Netherlands’ government, passing famous sights such as the Houses of Parliament, Peace Palace and the Binnenhof.
At the end of your exciting day tour you will be dropped back at the starting point.
