Look at different types of architecture and discover how Amsterdam reused the old spaces and reclaimed new land. Cycle along the waterfront, weather permitting, and experience the shipping industry of Amsterdam’s past. See one of the city’s windmills across from a local brewery and snap that perfect Holland photo.
Along the way, you will discover many diverse neighbourhoods and hear amazing tales of how Amsterdam grew from a small farming community to a port of global importance.
There is no better way to get familiar with this wonderful city than by bike!
To begin your Amsterdam Bike Tour you should meet your local guide at the city centre and hopping on a Dutch back-pedal bike. Your Amsterdam bike tour adventure is inspired by Pete Jordan’s “In the City of Bikes”, a tale of bike culture in the city throughout history, which lends an intriguing narrative to the day’s adventure.
Starting from the center of town, pedal towards the city’s oldest warehouse district.
We’ll weave our way through Amsterdam’s history and growth by starting out downtown and then making our way out to the northern dijks (dykes). Along the way we’ll hit up historical sites in the financial district and get an up close look at the city’s defences, learning how windmills, canals, and walls helped build this nation and its people.
You will have time to admire some of Amsterdam’s ultra-modern buildings as well, with a stop at the newest library terrace, where you can see the city sprawl out below and have maybe a coffee and chat with the guide.
The sheer volume of bikes and cyclists in Amsterdam will be apparent throughout your tour, from a waterfront stop that’s home to no less than 500 bikes parked in stalls to thrilling infamous intersections where at least 30 bikes of all shapes and sizes whiz by every minute.
By the time you’re done, this Amsterdam bike tour will have you cycling and feeling just like a local.
If you have your voucher, your booking is confirmed. We'll see you at the start point.

This is a small group tour and the maximum number is 12.
Due to the changing Dutch weather it is important to make sure to be well equipped against rain and wind, and to be wearing proper footwear for the bike ride.
If you are happy with the services provided by your local guides and drivers a tip - though not compulsory - is appropriate. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels, inspires excellent service, and is an entrenched feature of the tourism industry across many destinations. Please consider this when budgeting for your extra expenses on this tour.
We thoroughly enjoyed our bike tour experience. The quality of bikes we had was excellent. The tour guide told us she was changing the route and taking us outside the city centre...Evelyn Simpson, United Kingdom, 14/Aug/2016
We were met by Sean who arrived by tram, having had his bike stolen the night before! So he had to hire a bike, like the rest of us. There were 6 of us in the group, 3 couples-...Mrs J E Brookes, United Kingdom, 29/May/2014
