Overview

Experience Bruce Munro’s internationally-acclaimed masterpiece - Field of Light - amidst an equally spectacular sunrise over Uluru.

Departing in the dark of night to arrive at this magnificent installation, we will first make our way to the private dunetop to marvel at the vast expanse of the desert as our guide fills you in on the artist and his incredible artwork. Bruce Munro is renowned for his immersive site-specific installations that employ light to evoke an emotional response, often in an outdoor context and on a monumental scale. The Field of Light is his largest installation to date, comprising more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant hand-crafted frosted glass spheres - an inspirational vision that was born from his visit to Uluru over 27 years ago. A truly magical sight to behold, take your time to wander along the paths surrounding the sea of lit up spheres, in colours of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white. You can even find yourself a quiet corner under the starlit sky to sink into the palpable silence for a while - honestly, the perfect way to experience this surreal piece of art.

Having soaked up this truly beautiful ambiance, we will return back to the dunetop to witness the day break over the desert. You can admire the transcendental phenomenon of dawn creeping over and lighting up Uluru and Kata Tjuta is a dreamy array of colours, all while sipping on a cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate!
