  • Overview & Itinerary

    Overview

Nature is the finest architect, and Yosemite is among her greatest triumphs. Take a guided tour of this geological monument, passing by the raging cataract of Yosemite Falls and standing beneath the massively impressive bulwark of El Capitan.

Explore the charming town of Mariposa in the shadow of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and take a leisurely stroll around the shops, restaurants, and hiking trails of Yosemite Village.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset trip back to San Francisco through the sublime emptiness of the California landscape.

    Itinerary

Cross the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge at sunrise and relax on the 3½-hour drive to Yosemite National Park. Get lost in the stirring vastness and desolation of the landscape, punctuated from time to time by a flock of wind turbines.

Stop for a drink (payable direct) and a stretch in the town of Merced in the Central Valley, the most productive agricultural oasis in America.

Arrive in Yosemite National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and truly one of the most wondrous places on earth. A knowledgeable guide will lead you on a guided tour through the most hallowed areas of Yosemite.

Stare entranced at the cascading waters of Yosemite the highest measured waterfall in America, while white-tailed deer graze serenely in the valley below. Bow before El Capitan, a hulking rock formation that rises 3,000 feet and is a holy grail for the rock climbers of the world.

Walk through the quaint town of Mariposa in the foothills of the sovereign Sierra Nevada Mountains and explore Yosemite Village on your own time, with opportunities for hiking, shopping, and dining.

Reflect on your day on the way back to your San Francisco hotel, as you follow the sun west to its final resting place for the evening.

    • You need a month to see all the wonders of this National Park

What an experience! It was fantastic. Good driver/commentator. My only negative comment would be that we needed more time at the Park....
