The tour starts in front of Cinecitta at 663 Union Street, near the corner of Union and Columbus, which is between Powell and Columbus Streets on Union Street, near Washington Square Park. This is essentially a walking tour.
Your culinary tour involves a leisurely flat 7-8 block stroll around Little Italy, where you will learn more about its rich history of food and culture.
After meeting your English-speaking guide in front of Mario’s Bohemian Shop, at the corner of Union and Columbus (on Washington Square), you’ll start off at a coffee shop where you'll have the best coffee (or teas, Italian sodas, etc, for non-coffee drinkers), such as the most delicious cappuccino you ever had. See how this wonderful coffee is roasted, up close and personal.
Next you will enjoy chocolate from one of the top ten chocolatiers in the country. In addition to tasting incredible chocolate and seeing how it's made, you'll be taking some home with you.
This will be followed by a visit to a bread bakeryand a pastry bakery, and with some more sampling of numerous delights from each. You will even be taken to the kitchen to view the inner workings of both the bakeries. Enjoy watching bread baked in 130-year-old brick ovens.
Then taste some local olive oil in addition to trying several different types of specialty meats.
After enjoying pastries from one of the best bakeries in San Francisco you will be exploring the beat generation areas of San Francisco. One stop is the very place where Francis Ford Copola wrote The Godfather screenplay and the place where Bill Cosby got his start.
Savor listening to a lot of blues and jazz as you explore the beat generation hangouts of North Beach.

The local activity operator has made arrangements with the APM garage at 721 Filbert Street, at Filbert and Columbus, (the brick building), which is one block from the start of the North Beach tour, for discounted parking during the tour (ten dollars for up to five hours - the tour is three hours).
