Overview

Enjoy skip-the-line access to the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine, one of the most popular destinations in Berchtesgaden and more than 500 years old.

Explore many highlights, such as the magic Salt Room, enjoy a raft ride across Mirror Lake, see the Salt Cathedral, and visit the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden.

Travel from Salzburg via the Alpenstraße and along the Königsseeache up to the Obersalzberg, where once the leaders of the Third Reich resided. Explore the picturesque town of Berchtesgaden at your own leisure.

The salt mines in Berchtesgaden reach as far back as the twelfth century. One of Berchtesgaden Germany’s oldest active salt mines, the Bad Reichenhaller AlpenSalz is made from the brine won in this salt mine. The mines have been open to the public since the 1880s. The visitor center is now one of the most innovative salt mine experiences worldwide.

After you have put on protective clothing, the mine railway takes you 2,100 ft. into the mountain. Catch a glimpse of the impressive Salt Cathedral. Next is the first wooden slide, that transports you 34 m (110 ft.) downwards to the Stone Salt Grotto. There are many interesting things to see here, for example the salt laboratory which provides exciting insights into the history of salt mining.

Round off the experience with a scenic ride across the Mirror Lake on a raft. The lake owes its name to the reflection of the ceiling in the water’s surface.
