Iceland looks like a completely different world, built on impressive formations and sculpted by the forces of nature. The picture perfect stops are incomparable and that is what makes The Golden Circle a quintessential Icelandic excursion.
Experience the stunning natural hot springs, admire the age old Pingvellir National Park and soak in the mists at Gullfoss waterfall. Enjoy the convenience of hotel pick-up and drop-off and bask in the surreal beauty of the unexplored lagoon. The Secret Lagoon offers an intimate and tranquil experience at an affordable price! It is less touristy and is a soothing and secluded natural hot spring, far from the crowds. With no availability issues and at a budget-friendly price, focus on absorbing all the soothing benefits of one of Iceland's oldest natural geothermal pools.
This guided tour presents a wide variety of what Iceland has to offer and is a great introductory tour for anyone who wants to see a whole lot in one day.
The tour begins from your Reykjavík accommodation and the ride towards The Golden Circle begins with an expert English speaking guide.
The first stop is the Pingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Apart fromoffering a fantastic view, it is also the site of Iceland's first parliament. Pingvellir is where the Eurasian and North America tectonic plates slowly separate, forming huge rocky rifts in the ground creating an impressively broad valley. Learn as the guide indulges you in local folklore, geographical and historical significance of these formations.
The next stop is the infamous Geyser where geothermal hot springs make for dramatic eruptions. The spouting Strokkur erupts high into the sky about every 10 minutes and is a spectacular sight. Take this opportunity to walk alongside natural hot springs and be sure to stay within the restricted safe area!
You will also be visiting the beautiful Faxi waterfall in located in the Golden Circle area.
The Golden Circle wraps up at the Gullfoss waterfall site where you can feel the mist of glacial water on your face at Iceland's largest waterfall. The waterfall plunges into an enormously deep ravine creating a breathtaking site as the rivers worth of water spills into the abyss every second.
After the drive around the Golden Circle, unwind in the natural hot pool called Secret Lagoon. This blue lagoon presents a perfect opportunity to be one with nature in this outstanding pool, surrounded by a magical landscape.
Enjoy a soothing dip even when it’s freezing outside. The picturesque surroundings and the steam rising in the air gives the Secret Lagoon a surreal feel. There are several geothermal spots nearby and a little Geysir which erupts every 5 minutes. During the winter season, the Northern Lights often give a great light show above. Enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience of relaxing in the warm water and watching a lightshow above!
Post a nice hot bath, head back to Reykjavik over the Hellisheiði Pass where the tour comes to a close.
