Itinerary

Meet the tour at the Skaftafell booking center at the scheduled time for the start of the tour. You will be hiking to Falljökull, one of the most impressive outlet glaciers of the Vatnajökull ice cap. Walk along a winding path through the dramatically changing landscape carved out by the glacier.

Wear your crampons (spiked shoes) once you reach the tongue of the glacier. You will be exploring the magnificent terrain and walking through a wonderland of ice formations in brilliant blue hues.

Take in the jaw-dropping Icelandic scenery and admire spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and the amazing crevasses. Depending on the glacier conditions, you will enter the rugged and chaotic icefall where ice tumbles over the side of the underlying mountain and down towards the ocean.

The hike gives you wonderful insight into the world of glaciers, how they are formed and how they are forever changing shape. There will be plenty of opportunities to take great photos, preserving this fantastic experience for life.

The tour ends at the meeting point, after which you can make your own way back to the hotel.
