This Penang tour offers you a day of exciting rides, breathtaking natural landscapes and local shopping experiences. Ride the famous funicular train to ascend to Penang Hill, 800 metres above sea level. Enjoy the 360 degree views of Georgetown and the mainland. Go on to explore a new attraction on the hill – ‘The Habitat’ that serves as an ecotourism centre on the fringes of a 130-million year old rainforest. Later, buy some exclusive local food products like preserved fruits, hand-made biscuits, traditional herbs and more from a notable outlet.
Begin this tour with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Georgetown or Batu Feringghi. Enjoy the day in the following order:
Penang Hill funicular train
Reach the foot of Penang Hill or Bukit Bendera for a memorable funicular train ride up to the summit. Ascend to a height of up to 800 metres above sea level and enjoy an immediate relief from the lowland heat and humidity. Take in the fresh air and admire the beautiful flora and fauna of the hill. Marvel at the breathtaking panoramic views of Georgetown and part of the mainland.
The Habitat Penang Hill
Visit The Habitat, an ecotourism centre, built recently on Penang Hill amidst a 130-million year old rainforest. Reconnect with nature as you enter this natural kingdom with thriving flora and fauna. Enjoy an authentic, diverse and educational Malaysian rainforest experience as you embark on a guided nature trail and witness a plethora of plants, trees, insects, birds, reptiles, and mammals. The Habitat also features Penang’s highest platform offering a 360 degree view and Canopy Bridges at 40 meters above the forest floor.
Penang Native Products:
After lunch (at your own cost), visit one of the famous local outlets that sells locally-made traditional food products like Chinese herbal soup preparation called ‘Chic Kut The’, nutmeg oil/ointment, local fruits like mango, nutmeg, guava and papaya, banana chips, hand-made assorted Tambun Biscuits. Consider buying local traditional herbs like Tongkat Ali roots and bird’s nests, local coffee and chocolate products.
This tour ends with transfers back to your city hotel.
